Lead Gardener

We are in search of an experienced gardener who has a passion for gardening and maintaining the health and aesthetics of our gardens. Be part of an ecologically-minded and close-knit Design/Build/Gardening company.


He/She/They will lead a gardening team in the maintenance of the gardens throughout the season.

Installs and maintains annual and vegetable gardens for designated clients and gardens.

  • Ability to integrate and learn new technology for company systems and information.

  • Maintains JuliaGarden Design company standards.


    Field experience

    • Takes direction from the Gardener Director

    • Creates quality outcomes

    • Responsible for the safety, training, and well-being of the team. 

    • Upholds safety procedures consistently

    • Willingness to learn traditional gardening practices and new ecological techniques

    • Works outside in variable weather doing physically demanding work.

    • Prioritize tasks for team members and improve job-site workflow

    • Keep timely and accurate client records and time sheets

    Skills

    • Horticultural experience including but not limited to planting, transplanting, spring and fall cleanups, edging, invasive plant management, pruning

    • Organizational skills

    • Detail oriented

    • Proficiency in plant identification and plant care

    • Gardening experience

    • Driving trucks and trailers

    Qualifications

    • 3 years minimum experience working in the landscaping / professional fine gardening industry

    • One year experience in a lead position in the landscape field

    • Working knowledge of all aspects of landscaping / professional gardening

    • Horticultural curiosity

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Detail-oriented and quality driven

    • Basic Computer skills 

    • Organized and punctual with the desire to excel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

    • Must have a strong work ethic 

    • Valid driver’s license in good standing and willing to obtain DOT Medical Certificate
